If you don't like or can't eat certain types of seafood, you can tailor
your subscription by indicating 'opt-outs'. You will receive an
alternative seafood item whenever one of you opt-out species is our main
share of the week. This alternative will be something you have not
opted out of, and can be fresh of freshly frozen.
Below the list of things you can opt out of:
- Small fish (mackerel, sardine, herring and anchovies)
- Black Cod a.k.a Sablefish
- Shark* (sustainably caught as bycatch and really delicious!)
- Swordfish*
- Oysters
- Mussels
- Clams
- Crab
- Lobster
- Shrimp
- Squid
- Abalone
- Kellet's Whelk (escargot of the sea!)
*Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women or young children due to mercury levels
Certain
fish cannot be opted out of, like halibut or rockfish, because they are
staples of our local catch. We hope you will try our recipes and find
preparations with these species that you enjoy, or give unwanted fish to
a friend or neighbor to enjoy.
If you are unwilling to try what we send you, please email us asap and we will do our best to provide a substitute.
We
encourage our members to try our full variety and if you do not like an
item you can then add it to your list of opt-outs. Because our seafood
is so fresh, you can be pleasantly surprised that you like something you
thought you didn't.
